Actress Sakshi Agarwal, known for her roles in Kaala, Viswasam, Aranmanai 3 and her stint on Bigg Boss, has revealed what she calls the biggest project of her career—and it has nothing to do with cinema. On her birthday, the actress announced the launch of OKUU, a premium performance nutrition brand she has been quietly developing for the past five years.

The announcement surprised many in the industry, largely because OKUU is not a typical celebrity venture. Agarwal clarified that the brand is neither an endorsement nor a licensing collaboration. Instead, it is a company she has built from scratch, overseeing every stage of its development—from identifying gaps in the nutrition market to testing ingredients and refining product formulations.

The scale of the effort is striking. OKUU’s flagship product, a clean-label plant-based protein bar, went through 551 formulation iterations in the final eleven months alone before meeting Agarwal’s standards. The bar delivers 35g of protein, zero sugar, 14g of fibre, and a 6g collagen boost, while avoiding fillers, chemicals, and additives commonly found in performance snacks.

Agarwal says the idea emerged from her own struggle to maintain fitness while juggling demanding film schedules. She found herself increasingly dissatisfied with products that marketed performance but relied on hidden sugars and compromises she felt consumers shouldn’t have to accept.

“For the last five years, I’ve lived two parallel journeys. One that everyone saw—as an actress—and another that very few people knew about: building OKUU. This isn’t a side project or a celebrity brand. It’s something I’ve obsessed over every single day because I genuinely believed India deserved better nutrition,” she said.

For Agarwal, OKUU represents more than a product launch—it marks the beginning of a long-term ambition to build an Indian nutrition company capable of competing globally.

“The easiest thing I could have done was endorse someone else’s product. I chose the harder path because I wanted to build something I could stand behind with complete conviction. Today isn’t just a launch—it’s the day I finally get to share what I’ve been building all these years.”

With OKUU now public, Agarwal steps into a dual role: continuing her work in cinema while simultaneously leading a brand she hopes will redefine performance nutrition in India.

OKUU Choco Almond Truffle

The packaging says: 35 G Plant Protein, 6 G Collagen Boost, 0 G Sugar.and that the product is Vegan. The product weight is given as 3 oz or 85.5 G.

Priced at Rs 399, the OKUU bar is a wholesome food. After consuming a whole bar, I felt that I didn’t need anything more. The ingredients are: brown rice protein, almond butter, hydrolyzed pea protein, cocoa butter, FOS, 99.9% dark chocolate, textured pea protein, veg collagen, high fat cocoa powder, millet flakes, sunflower lecithin, monk fruit extract, Himalayan salt.

In a non-refrigerated state (refrigeration makes it hard to bite into), the first mouthful bursts with the chocolate taste and when clamped down, the millet flakes offer a delicious crunch. The very slight hint of the Himalayan salt adds to the cocoa-chocolate taste, making one to take additional bites.

Being conceived as a true blue protein bar by a fitness ambassador and actor, Sakshi Agarwal, the OKUU bar is nutritious to the core – just check the ingredients!
