Breaking Barriers: Al Zaharat’s Unique Exhibition-cum-Sale in Vizag

In a city known for its scenic beauty and cultural richness, Vizag is about to witness a groundbreaking event that promises to uplift local women entrepreneurs and celebrate their unique products and services. On September 10, 2023, Hawa Mahal Vizag will be the stage for an exceptional exhibition-cum-sale, organized by Al Zaharat, a non-profit all-women support community in Vizag.
This one-of-a-kind event is the brainchild of Farzana Begum, Andhra Pradesh’s first hijabi strength trainer and the founder of “Fit With Fab.” Farzana, also the Co-Founder of Vastra Bank, envisioned a platform that would empower small-scale and home-based women entrepreneurs in the region. She explained her motivation: “It all stemmed from a single thought when I observed several women around me emerging as entrepreneurs, offering innovative and quality products and services. However, they lack a proper platform to launch themselves or access the market their merchandise deserves. Al Zaharat was formed with a few like-minded women from the Islamic faith, but it extends its support to any woman, irrespective of caste, age, or religion.”
This exhibition is a significant step towards realizing that vision. Around 25 stalls will grace the event, showcasing an impressive array of items, from baked goodies and healthy snacks to traditional fineries, handmade bangles, and exquisite resin artifacts. It’s a testament to the diversity and creativity of women entrepreneurs in Vizag.
The Al Zaharat exhibition will open at 4:00 PM and run until 10:00 PM, providing ample time for visitors to explore the remarkable offerings and engage with the passionate women behind them. Importantly, entry to this empowering event is free, encouraging everyone to participate and support these budding entrepreneurs.
Farzana Begum expressed her hope that this initiative would be the first of many and similar events will be hosted in the future. She envisions a Vizag where women entrepreneurs have the support and recognition they need to thrive.
